Lights out on your vehicle are very dangerous. A burned-out headlight can impair your ability to see the road clearly, increasing the risk of a flat tire or accident. Simply turn your lights on while the car is in park, and walk around the entire vehicle to make sure your headlights, rear lights, blinkers, and hazards are functioning properly. Yup, with just a few adjustments and some planning ahead, bring your pup along for the ride doesn’t have to be a nightmare! So if you’re interested in learning how to bring your pet along, check out our tips below! Before you leave to make sure to pack: Lead, Collar, Leash, and ID tag: The last thing you want to happen is your dog to get away in a place he doesn’t know, but be prepared for the worst. Make sure you have everything you’ll need to keep your dog from escaping, and everything you’ll need in case they do. Food, water, bowls: Bring more than you think! The last thing you want to do on vacation is run to the grocery store to find dog food. Tell yourself the same thing you did when you overpacked clothes...YOU MIGHT NEED IT! Blankets and baggies: Bring blankets for bedding, and warmth. Bring waste disposable bags for parking lot rest-stops (You wouldn’t want to accidentally step in that, would you?). Old washcloths: For those pups that get down in the dirt, don’t stress about your car seats, just bring washcloths to clean off messy paws Crates and restraints: Some dogs love the car! They jump right in, stick their head out the window, and let their ears fly! But unfortunately, that’s not a good idea. Even if your dog is usually a happy traveler, it isn’t safe for them to roam freely throughout the car, in the case of an accident. Break time is important: You might down to take on a long drive little to no breaks but your dog isn’t. Plan on taking frequent stops like you would if you were traveling with a small child. Letting your dog out for potty breaks and to run around will burn off some pent-up energy, making you and your dogs ride my easier! Check with the vet: If this is your dogs first trip you might want to talk to your vet and see if there is any medication that can help with motion sickness and anxiety.

If you’re thinking you might not need them, just think about how many accidents can happen if you’re going too fast through a work zone. With people working right next to your vehicle and other machinery at work, there are more road hazards to be aware of. Fiore Volkswagen’s Safety Tips For Work Zones: Increase your following distance: You should have three car lengths in front of you when entering a construction zone. I know you might think this is extensive but give yourself more room leaves space in case of an accident like a worker stepping out too far or even something falling in the road! Don’t assume workers are present: A lot of the time you’ll see signs that tell you to reduce your speed because you are approaching a work zone, but once you get there it looks like nobody is working…so most people accelerate to normal speed. Regardless if you don’t see the worker or not, obey the speed limit. Workers could be working farther up, and even if they’re not working a cop could still be monitoring the area just waiting for someone to break the law! Follow instructions from flaggers: Always obey instructions from flaggers, and assume that their instructions overrule any other traffic signs or signals. Their directions might not align with normal traffic patterns, so be prepared. Also, be on the lookout for flaggers' signals, such as an extended palm indicating that you need to stop. Be sure to also reduce your speed and be especially aware of your surroundings when driving near a work zone with flaggers posted. Minimize your distractions: Distraction-free driving is always important, but especially during work zones! When you are approaching a work zone, slow down, turn down any loud music, and stay focused on your surroundings. The more attentive you are the less likely you will be to have an accident! Merge promptly at land closure: One of the most common causes of accidents and road rage in construction zones is that of lane closures. When you see a sign posted for an upcoming lane closure, be sure to merge as soon as safely possible. Do not wait until the lane is coming to an end to force your way over into the next lane. This is not only rude to the other drivers who followed the posted signs and merged but it could cause a road rage incident.

Fiore Volkswagen’s Color Guide To Fluid Leaks Clear: This is usually water from the air conditioning building up excess condensation and resulting in puddles of water underneath your vehicle. Unless this problem persists in great quantities, you’ve got nothing to worry about! Yellow, Green, or Pink: Due to their bright colors, these leaks are usually easy to spot. If your vehicle is an older model and there are only a few spots here and there it’s not something to worry about. But, if there are larger puddles of this fluid or your vehicle is newer, this coolant shouldn’t be dripping any excess liquids so it might be a good idea to bring it in to a professional. Orange: If there is orange/reddish-brown fluid leaking from the center of your vehicle, it could be transmission fluid. However, rust from your radiator mixing with an antifreeze leak can appear orange-ish as well, but can leak from multiple spots so placement is a key determining factor with this one. Red(ish): Power steering fluid appears red in color with a thin texture and will leak from under the front part of your car. If this is the case, there is an issue with the power steering pump and you should seek out a service professional. Light yellow to dark brown: Brake fluid starts out as a clear/yellow color and as it ages it becomes dark brown, similar to motor oil. Distinguish between the two by dipping your finger in it. If the fluid feels slippery, it’s likely brake fluid. If this is the case, your vehicle is not safe to drive and you’re going to want to have it towed it in for repair as soon as possible. Light brown to black: If the fluid leaking from your vehicle is a brownish/black color with an iridescent hue, chances are its motor oil. This can leak from various spots of your vehicle and won’t stop your vehicle dead, but it means that there is an ongoing issue and you should bring your vehicle in for a professional examination

Fall is here and conditions are changing pretty rapidly. Sometimes those conditions come with wet and muddy situations and in some cases, you might find yourself stuck in the mud. Fiore Volkswagen’s Tips For Avoiding Getting Stuck In The Mud: If you feel your vehicle beginning to sink or becoming stuck - don’t stop. Continue a constant pressure on the gas pedal. Hopefully, this will be the only thing you need to do to get out of the mud. You’ll want to avoid bringing your vehicle to a complete stop, your vehicle will be stuck and you’ll have to take other extensive measures to get out. Sorry, Charlie! Rock it back and forth - literally. Once you’re stuck, you’re stuck and it’s time to do some maneuvering. While gently pressing on your gas pedal, shift between drive and reverse. This will begin to create a rocking motion and may free your vehicle. If you’re not free after a few times, move on. Adding traction increases your chances of getting unstuck greatly. Whether you are willing to use your floor mats, blankets, extra clothing you have in your vehicle or random items like leaves, sticks or rocks - traction is the reason you’re stuck and you need to regain that traction to get out of the mud. Place your items in front of your tires and slowly accelerate. If you have a few passengers, asking them to push might be a good idea! Dig it out! If you keep a small shovel in your vehicle, you’re a genius. If not, you’re probably part of the majority. Regardless, you want to try to dig out the mud from around your tires and try to create a clean, clear path back to solid ground. Once your path is clear, hop in and gently accelerate. If this doesn’t seem to work, it might be time to phone a friend!

Fiore VW’s List Of Common Car Seat Mistakes: The child is turned face-forward too early Babies must ride facing the rear until they are at least 1 year old and weighs 20 pounds. Experts recommend waiting even longer but it is up to the parent Some parents don’t like facing the baby to the rear because they have trouble seeing the baby’s face, but it is important that the child doesn’t face forward in case of a crash. A solution is to get a childproof mirror to hang on the backseat headrest to see the baby. The seat isn't installed tightly enough Most people don’t know how tight they should be pulling the safety belt, the answer is as tight as possible. When you jiggle the area where the safety belt is pulled through, the chair should not move more than 1 inch in any direction! Harness straps are too loose A big mistake is not tightening the harness straps enough, this is because they don’t want to make it too tight or uncomfortable for the child. The correct way is for the straps to be tightened so that the slack can’t be pinched between an adult’s thumb and forefinger. This ensures that the child won’t slip too far down in the seat and that the child won’t fall out. Infant seat angled incorrectly The seat must be reclined no more than 45-degree angle, just enough so the child doesn't flop forward but if he/she is positioned anymore than that they could be thrown out between the straps headfirst. Harness straps are in wrong slots When the child is facing the rear position, the straps should be in slots at or just below the shoulder. If the child is old enough to be facing forward, the straps should come through the uppermost slots. The safety belt isn't in locked mode. This information will be provided to you in the owner’s manual of your car, determine what type of belts you have and follow the directions regarding how they must be used with a child-safety restraint.
