New VW Parts Warehouse To Open In Sacramento, CA
Volkswagen’s logistics operations in North America will soon be increased due to the construction of a new 143,000 square foot Pacific Northwest Parts Distribution Center in Sacramento, Calif. This new facility will be the brand’s second in California, as there is already a 310,000 square foot facility in Los Angeles. The new facility in Sacramento will be responsible for the distribution of parts to VW dealers throughout six states. Through this new facility, customers in those areas will be provided with a quicker parts ordering service, upgrading the turn around from second-day delivery to overnight delivery.
“This new facility is a testament to Volkswagen Group of America’s commitment to servicing its dealer network and customer base on the West Coast as efficiently as possible,” said Jan Bures, Executive Vice President Group After Sales and Services, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. “We remain focused on growing in the U.S. market through these strategic investments.”
The construction of this facility is part of a $7 billion commitment Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (VWoG) made to increase their focus and dedication in the North American market from 2015-2019. Overall, this new project will cost around $6.8 million to complete.

Volkswagen Begins Development On New Racing Golf
Volkswagen Motorsport has begun development on its first race car built from the seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf. The concept car packs 330-hp and is put together under TCR regulations in order to help the brand properly judge the potential customer racing program in 2016 and beyond. The cars will be tested for the rest of the season and two cars will race during the eighth round of the Touringcar Racer International Series (TCR) at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
“The newly created TCR category provides a promising platform for customer racing – on a national and international level. With exciting races, production-based technology, and reasonable costs, it offers a new outlook for private racing teams,” said Volkswagen Motorsport Director Jost Capito. “When developing the Golf-based concept car, we are able to fall back on the resources at Volkswagen. This reduces both development time and costs. We will also use the rest of the season to test the car under competitive conditions and evaluate a possible customer racing project from 2016.”
Volkswagen Sets Driving Record Yet Again
Yet again, Volkswagen of America is proud to announce that they’ve set another astounding record. What makes it even more impressive is that the record wasn’t only an achievement for just Volkswagen, but it was also a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® accomplishment. The 2015 Golf TDI® Clean Diesel now holds the world record for “lowest fuel consumption-48 U.S. contiguous States for a non-hybrid car”. With an average of an amazing 81.17 miles per gallon, over the course of 8,233.5 miles through 16 days, the 2015 Golf TDI® Clean Diesel consumed only $294.98 of diesel fuel.
“Covering 8,233.5 miles on just 101.43 gallons of Clean Diesel fuel is a remarkable accomplishment, and solid proof of the efficiency and fuel economy of Volkswagen’s TDI® Clean Diesel vehicles,” said Michael Horn, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. “Whether on a long road trip or even in daily commuting, the great mileage and long range of our TDI models is a pure convenience factor that few other vehicles on sale can match. It’s a simple formula: Less Stop, More Go!”
What makes it even more interesting is that the record that Volkswagen topped was its own record. Prior to the latest record being set, the 2013 Volkswagen Passat TDI held the record at an incredible 77.99 mpg.

Volkswagen And Gestamp Partnership Expansion
Just recently Volkswagen Group of America, Chattanooga Operations LLC, and Gestamp, announced that they plan to expand their partnership. Gestamp, the metal components and parts manufacturer, and Volkswagen plan to bring over 500 jobs to the Chattanooga area with their partnership expansion.
Included in the new expansion will be the building of a new stamping plant in Enterprise South to aid the stamping process of Class A parts, and the expansion of their current Chattanooga facility as well. Gestamp is putting $180 million into the partnership expansion that’ll make its Chattanooga capacity three times larger than it is now.
“The importance of this expanded partnership for Volkswagen and Chattanooga cannot be overstated,” said Christian Koch, President and CEO of Volkswagen Chattanooga. “I am grateful for the hard work of Gov. Haslam and Commissioner Boyd, and Senator Corker as well. They all worked tirelessly to make the impossible happen. We have put another crucial pillar into place for our future success and the benefits of this expansion will impact the community for years to come,” Koch said.
At this point, Volkswagen uses press shops in various states for their stamped metal parts used in Chattanooga. Consolidating the process in Chattanooga and Enterprise South will allow Volkswagen to cut back significantly on transportation costs.

In one video, Volkswagen offers instructions on how to enter your vehicle in case your VW’s Key Fob should stop working properly. Even without the key fob, there are ways that you can manually enter and start your vehicle in order to get by until you are able to have the battery replaced.
In the next video, VW provides tips on how to check the lights on your vehicle in order to make sure that all of the lights on your vehicle are working properly. You should check the lights on your vehicle about once a month to make sure that none of them have burned out as this can not only be dangerous, but can lead to a ticket as well.
