Last week marked the 15th year of the Annual North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards, with over twenty different concept vehicles competing for recognition in four categories. These concept vehicles have appeared at multiple automotive shows across North America throughout the year, and each one was evaluated by a team of 20 judges to determine the winner of each category.
Volkswagen is proud to announce that the Volkswagen BUDD-e has been named the 2016 Concept Truck of the Year! While Volkswagen is not known for making trucks, the judges acknowledged the BUDD-e for raising standards in both utility and mobility. The VW BUDD-e concept is built on the Modular Electric Toolkit, a first for the brand. Complete with a 101 kWh battery that offers an estimated range of up to 233, plus a plethora of connectivity and infotainment technology, the BUDD-e is an illustration of the future of innovation at Volkswagen.
“We are thrilled that the BUDD-e has been honored as 2016 Concept Truck of the Year and would like to thank the panel of judges for recognizing Volkswagen’s innovation,” said Dr Hendrik Muth, Director of Product Marketing, Volkswagen of America, Inc., accepting the award. “We are determined to lead the future of automotive design, and BUDD-e shows the capabilities of our all-new electric vehicle architecture and further advances connectivity and infotainment.”
