Volkswagen Releases First Monthly Sales In 2016

It’s a new year and Volkswagen is looking to start this year off on a fresh positive note following the many ups and downs of 2015. To start off, the brand’s total sales results for January came to a total of 20,079 units with several of their models experiencing their best-ever monthly sales. The biggest sellers for January included the Tiguan, Golf R, and the e-Golf which all reach record-breaking totals.

“We are encouraged by the strong performance of the Tiguan,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America. “January sales numbers were down due to the seasonal nature of the fleet business. Despite that and the weather conditions in the Northeast portion of the country, Volkswagen dealers improved in terms of retail business.”

January Sales:

Sales of the Golf R reached 447 units
Sales of the e-Golf increased by 81 percent to reach 328 units
Sales of the Golf SportWagen reached 706 units
Sales of the Jetta Sedan reached 8,175 units
Sales of the Tiguan increased by 71.6 percent to reach 2,528 units
