When the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team arrived in Las Vegas for the final race of the 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross (GRC) season they knew that they would be leaving with a championship due to their large lead in points over the other teams. What remained to be seen, however, was whether either of the team’s two drivers Scott Speed and Tanner Foust would secure the win with a podium finish in the championship race. At the end of the weekend, it was Speed, who pilots the No. 41 ORAFOL Volkswagen Beetle GRC, that drove home the official win.

“I’m at a loss for words when it comes to describing how it feels to win the championship this season,” said Speed, soon after crossing the finish line in Vegas. “The whole Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team has worked so hard for this result; I’m incredibly proud of this team and am so happy to have been able to bring home the top spot for them.”

Teammate Foust who pilots the No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Beetle came in ninth place during the final race, but finished third overall for the entire series giving both drivers a podium finish. This win not only adds to Foust’s already impressive GRC resume, but it was also a big win for the entire Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team to come away with a championship in only their second year of competition.

“It was a difficult event here in Las Vegas, but I’m so proud of the entire VARX team for the efforts they’ve put in this year. They’ve made our season so, extremely successful,” states Foust.“Third in the championship obviously isn’t what we were hoping for, but I can’t wait to start next year, continuing the success we’ve found in 2015.  Congratulations to Scott—I’m glad he could join the GRC champions club, but we’ll be gunning for him next year!”
