2016 Volkswagen e-Golf Named To AAA Green Car Guide

Each year AAA releases its Green Car Guide which is put together by the Automobile Club of Southern California and its Automotive Research Center. This year, they have included the all-new 2016 Volkswagen e-Golf as one of the vehicles recognized as the Best Compact.

All eligible vehicles are tested out by AAA and they are given a score of 0-10 in each of the 13 different categories which include cargo-carrying capacity, emissions, visibility, handling, fuel economy, maneuverability, crashworthiness, roominess, ride quality, ease of entry and exit, braking, interior noise, and acceleration. The vehicles with the highest overall combined scores are then selected as the top models for the annual guide.

The 2016 Volkswagen e-Golf is available in two trim levels and gets its power from a synchronous permanent-magnet alternating current (AC) motor that generates 115 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. This zero-emissions vehicle also offer an EPA-estimated range of 83 miles and a combined EPA-estimated 116 MPGe.

This model also comes standard with a 3.6 kW onboard charger and a variety of new connectivity features and available features such as VW Car-Net® App-Connect technology, Parking Steering Assistant (Park Assist) ,a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, USB connectivity, Keyless access with push-button start, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist), heatable front seats, Park Distance Control (Park Pilot), V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces, and a rearview camera.
