While attending the GRC Rallycross race in DC, Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross drivers Scott Speed and Tanner Foust, decided to take the competition off the track when they visited The Escape Room for a unique experience that would test both their speed and problem-solving abilities.

The Escape Room offers guests an immersive experience where they are locked inside a room and you are given 45 minutes to find the key, unlock the door and let yourself out. When you enter the room, you are presented with a scenario that explains why you are locked in this room and the urgency behind why you must find your way out quickly.

While inside, you must find hidden clues that are spread throughout the room inside objects, written in invisible ink and more. Each clue then leads you closer to finding the key that will let you out of the room. For the challenge, Speed and Foust each entered a room with two teammates to see whether Team Speed or Team Foust would emerge the fastest. As part of a bet, whoever’s team lost had to wear a special outfit picked out by the winning player to the GRC DC.

The award-winning Volkswagen Golf can now add another accolade to its collection, it has just received AutoPacific’s Ideal Vehicle Award (IVA). This is now the fourth time in the last six years that this model has received this award, the most recent being just last year.

“This award is further proof of the Golf’s all-around excellence,” said Mark McNabb, Chief Operating Officer, Volkswagen of America, Inc. “The Golf has been performing very well for us and we are really happy that new car buyers surveyed by AutoPacific agreed with the automotive writers who have given the Golf so many great awards since its introduction in 2014 as a 2015 model.”

The 2015 Golf claimed the top honors in the compact car segment by beating out the other twelve entries with the best overall score. This score was determined by surveys completed by new vehicles owners that measured and evaluated each new model throughout fifteen different categories that included interior storage, safety features, ride and handling, driver’s seat comfort, power and acceleration, and power and acceleration.

Volkswagen Chattanooga has achieved yet another company milestone with the production of its 500,000th Passat. The monumental Passat was a Candy White Limited Edition with black inside, 170hp, a 1.8-liter turbo engine, and a long list of other features.

“Our Passat has raised the bar on what Americans can expect from a mid-size sedan and the 500,000th car was built with the same passion for detail as the first,” Christian Koch, President and CEO of Volkswagen Chattanooga. “I’m proud of our team and excited about new products on the horizon in this factory,” Koch said.

Volkswagen Chattanooga is presently undergoing a $900 million expansion to allow for a second model to be produced in Chattanooga. This expansion to produce a 7-seat midsize SUV would create 2,000 jobs and a special North American Engineering and Planning Center.
