Volkswagen Releases Visual Of 2017 Polo R WRC
The Volkswagen Polo R WRC has proved to be quite successful vehicle for the brand in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). Now, Volkswagen has offered fans a glimpse at what the Polo R may look like in the future with a faster and more powerful design including an engine that generates 380 hp/280 kW which is about 60 hp/45 kW higher than the current model.
This new version will also be lighter and more aerodynamic with a minimum weight of 1,175 kilograms and a minimum length of 3,900 millimeters. This model will also include a few visual changes such as a broader front spoiler and a large rear wing.
‘‘The 2017 WRC regulations include many spectacular technical innovations for the World Rally Championship,’’ said Volkswagen Motorsport Director Jost Capito. ‘‘The World Rally Cars of the future will incorporate all the experience that teams have gained in recent years. They will be considerably more dynamic, whilst at the same time being safer. As usual, we are working painstakingly on the development of the next generation of the Polo R WRC. The key between now and the start of next season is to achieve the best possible prerequisites to allow the 2017 Polo R WRC to be as successful as its two predecessors.‘‘
Volkswagen engineers have been working on the design of the 2017 Volkswagen Polo R WRC since the summer of 2015 when new regulations for the highest class of rallying were released by the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

The latest advertisement released as part of this campaign definitely portrays the adventurous spirit that Volkswagen is hoping to promote. The spot featured professional cyclist Tim Johnson riding his bike up a mountain in the snow, pushing his limits to make it to the top no matter what the elements are throwing at him.
Once he arrives at the top, he finds Volkswagen Rally Car driver, Tanner Foust waiting for him, enjoying the view while leaning up against his 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan. Foust then offers to help give Johnson and his bike a ride back down thanks to the large cargo space and comfortable passenger seating in the Tiguan.

Volkswagen has released a series of new videos that highlight some of the features and capabilities of several of the new models in their current lineup. The vehicles featured in these new spots include the Tiguan, Jetta, and the Passat. Each new spot is 30 seconds and it highlights one of the stand out features of the model at the center of the new advertisement in a fun way that drivers can relate to. 2017 Golf Alltrack Production Model Debuts in U.S.
The U.S. version of the All-Wheel-Drive Golf Alltrack, which is based on the Golf Sportwagen, was announced by Volkswagen of America, Inc. This vehicle, which has the dual-appeal of SUV luxury and car sportiness, has experienced widespread success, and now Volkswagen lovers in the U.S. will get to enjoy it as well.
The Golf Alltrack shares many qualities with the Golf SportWagen including the 1.8-L Four-Cylinder TSI® Engine and Six-Speed DSG® Automatic Transmission. However, its most beloved feature is arguably the 4MOTION® All-Wheel-Drive system. The Golf Alltrack was made to appear more rugged with features like unique bumpers, wheel wells and side sills for off-road protection and a front fascia with foglights and a honeycomb grille. Additional features include a rearview camera, new leatherette seating surfaces, and VW Car-Net® App-Connect. Adventurous drivers will also appreciate the “Off-Road Mode” selection that optimizes traction and control if you opt for the road less traveled.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington Receives Donation From Volkswagen Group of America Inc.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington (BGCGW) recently received a $25,000 donation from Volkswagen Group of America Inc. (VWGoA) which the group will use to help fund several of their signature events and educational programs. VWGoA is no stranger to the efforts of the BGCGW, in fact, they have been serving as a community partner for this organization for the last 12 years.
“We truly value our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and the opportunity it provides to make a positive difference in the lives of youth in our communities,” said Machelle Williams, General Manager, Diversity and Organizational Development, VWGoA.
Over the years, VWGoA has made several monetary contributions and for the past three years they have run a Leadership Camp at their Herndon Headquarters for BGCGW students. At this camp the students are educated on different aspects of the brand as well as various career opportunities that are available in the automotive industry.

Volkswagen Group of America’s North American Engineering and Planning Center (EPC) has announced that Dr. Burkhard Huhnke will be taking over as the new Vice President of Product Innovations effective immediately. He will maintain his position as a representative of Volkswagen Group of America (VWGoA) at the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) while also serving as a go-between with several universities and responsible for making connections with national research and development organizations.
Huhnke brings years of experience with him as he previously held positions such as project leader for Autonomous Car Project through Volkswagen Passat Junior, and project leader for Autonomous Car Project through Volkswagen Passat Junior where he ran Volkswagen Automotive Innovation Center (VAIL) at Stanford University alongside Professors Sebastian Thrun, Cliff Nass, and Chris Gerdes. His most recent position was Head of Product Engineering at the Volkswagen Chattanooga plant.
“Dr. Burkhard Huhnke’s 18 years of experience in research and development have prepared him for his expanded role here at the North American Engineering and Planning Center”, says Dr. Matthias Erb, EVP of Engineering and Planning. “Dr. Huhnke’s expertise will help direct our innovation efforts in the North American Region, for example in terms of lightweight materials and connectivity.”
