Meet the Lego VW Beetle
What’s better than driving a 2016 Volkswagen Beetle? Hmm.. pretty much nothing. But the Lego Volkswagen Beetle is a close second. You will now be able to purchase a 1,167-piece Lego set to build your own Beetle. When finished, the replica stands at 10 inches long and 11 inches tall. It comes with lots of Beetle goodies such as four different license plates, a roof rack, and beach day essentials like a surfboard, a cooler, and a tiny beach towel. 2016 Volkswagen Passat Named Best Midsize Sedan
The results for Cars.com’s Midsize Sedan Challenge are in and both car experts and everyday shoppers have spoken: the 2016 Volkswagen Passat is the best midsize sedan on the road this year. To be eligible for the challenge, vehicles had to have an MSRP under $28,000, an EPA estimated mpg of at least 28 mpg, and an automatic transmission. Qualifying vehicles were evaluated based on handling, overall ride, acceleration, braking, cargo space, technology, and features. These categories were rated by expert judges and a couple shopping for a new sedan on a road course that stretched 220 miles. Only ten vehicles made the list, with the Passat coming out on top.
“The Passat came in first place with both our expert judges and in-market shoppers,” said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com’s editor-in-chief. “This midsize sedan is a refreshed version of the Passat that won Cars.com’s Best of 2012 award; it’s still tremendously roomy and for 2016 got a ton of tech upgrades like Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration. In addition to the roominess, tech and safety, the standout feature of the Passat is its driving ability. Everyone who drove it unanimously agreed, the Passat is plain old fun to drive.”

Volkswagen Plans to Sell 1 Million EVs by 2025
The Volkswagen Group has recently announced that it plans to sell one million electric vehicles by 2025. This announcement is in response to the CO2 regulations that will be instituted globally in the upcoming years. In order to achieve this lofty goal, the brands under Volkswagen will be launching nearly 20 electric or hybrid vehicles by 2020.
One of the models we’ve heard about so far is the updated e-Golf, which is due to arrive by the end of the year. We’ve also heard rumors about an all-electric vehicle, and another Prius-like model called the XL3 that is rumored to debut in 2018, although nothing has been confirmed just yet. What we do know, however, is that VW engineers are working diligently to develop the MEB, a modular platform that can support a wide range of battery-electric vehicles. This is the platform that supported the Budd-e concept at the CES show earlier this year.

Volkswagen and Gett Announce Partnership
The Volkswagen Group has just entered into a strategic partnership to further their efforts in being the driving force in the future of mobility. Last month, they announced the launch of an independent company which will develop mobility services. This week, they’ve announced a partnership with Gett, an on-demand mobility provider.
Volkswagen has invested $300 million in Gett, which through its app, riders can book rides instantly or pre-book them for later. Gett will gain strength in the market while working with Volkswagen to expand on-demand mobility services in Europe and beyond.
“Alongside our pioneering role in the automotive business, we aim to become a world leading mobility provider by 2025,” says Matthias Müller, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft. “Within the framework of our future Strategy 2025, the partnership with Gett marks the first milestone for the Volkswagen Group on the road to providing integrated mobility solutions that spotlight our customers and their mobility needs.”
We hope to see this arrive in the United States in the coming years!
