Protect Your Car From Winter

We hate to state the obvious, but winter is in full swing here in Hollidaysburg, Altoona, Johnstown, State College, and Greensburg PA. The roads and streets are filled with snow, muck, and a heavy dose of salt, and as a result, your vehicle is probably not sparkling clean. Not only does this make your vehicle look bad, it can cause damage and rust to the exterior of your car! Not to worry! Fiore Volkswagen has four steps that will help you prevent this below.

Winterize with Wax – One simple and affordable thing you can do to winterize your ride is to add a coat of wax to the exterior. This will serve as an extra layer of protection between the salt, snow, and grime and your vehicle!

You Missed a Spot – Road salt tends to collect behind the wheels, quarter panels, and front grille. As a result, rust is most likely to start here. Avoid rusting by paying attention to these areas while cleaning your vehicle.

Wash It Down – Washing down your vehicle may be the most important thing you can do to protect it from winter. Regularly removing the road sludge will increase its longevity and prolong its resale value! It doesn’t matter how you choose to wash your car – hand wash, power washer, or automatic – all that matters is you’re washing it regularly. We recommend every other week. Oh, and don’t forget to schedule your washes on warmer days! Nobody wants to be driving around in a giant popsicle.

Switch It Up – Want to spend ten extra minutes in bed in the morning? Of course you do! Cut down your ice scraping time by draining your windshield wiper fluid and replacing it with deicer fluid. Also, switch out your regular floor mats with custom fitted rubber mats to protect your floors against salt, snow, and dirt.
