Every year, J.D. Power conducts their APEAL study, which surveys over 80,000 customers who leased or purchased a new model-year vehicle. The APEAL study, which stands for Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study and takes place between February and May, customers are asked to evaluate their new vehicles based on 77 different attributes. For the first time since 2001, the Volkswagen brand was ranked the highest in the non-premium nameplate category, receiving a score of 809 out of 1000.
“The J.D. Power APEAL Study is a great proof point of a brand’s appeal to new car buyers,” said Hinrich J. Woebcken, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. “It’s very encouraging for everyone in the company that Volkswagen heads up the non-premium nameplates for the first time since 2001.”
