The Volkswagen Golf GTI is turning 40 this year, and in celebration, VW will be releasing the Clubsport S, an extreme version of the hot hatch and the most powerful Golf GTI ever produced by Volkswagen. It will be unveiled at the annual Wörthersee Enthusiast Meet in Austria this week.
The Clubsports S will be powered by a turbocharged 310 horsepower 2.0-Liter Four-Cylinder Engine and a Six-Speed Manual Transmission, although it is assumed customers will be able to upgrade to the Six-Speed Dual-Clutch Automatic Transmission. The Clubsport S will also be equipped with Front-Wheel Drive.
As of right now, this limited edition is only expected to be released in Europe in the fall, but it is still possible it will make its way overseas to the United States. Check back on our blog for updates!
